In practice since 1983, Attorney Gordon E. Stillings has devoted his life to family and his law practice to helping other families through their legal matters.
excellence in law
Wisconsin native and son of a minister, Attorney Stillings continues his rich family heritage with true
devotion to his own family and commits his legal practice to helping others find
the ground upon which they may build a wholesome, happy family for their
own children. Like his father, Gordon gives reverence to higher principles and has served the Episcopal Diocese of Fond du Lac as Chancellor
for many years.
Attorney Stillings is always sensitive to both the emotional impact and
the financial stress that divorce, custody, visitation, paternity, and
family law matters in general may place upon the family members. Gordon
encourages couples to seek counseling to reconcile the differences between spouses before
considering divorce.
If all attempts have been futile and reconciliation is impossible, or if the situation between you and your souse has become abusive, he then encourages
people to consider the options available to them in light of the future
needs of the family, especially where children are involved and will need
their parents to maintain a stable relationship for their growing years.
Those options are many, and Gordon has the experience, certifications, knowledge and legal skill to provide all of them.
family court judge
Several years ago, he was appointed as a Family Court Commissioner in Calumet County (Chilton, Wisconsin) and continues to preside over family law cases involving divorce, custody and support in the Chilton court.
Certified collaborative divorce attorney
Gordon has earned certification in Collaborative Divorce Law. Collaborative
Divorce Law certification requires an attorney to study extensive law
and test to prove complete understanding. In this area of specialized
family law, the objective is to form fair agreements in private between
the divorcing spouses and their attorneys while avoiding litigation in
a courtroom and the lack of privacy that is inherit to publicly tried
divorces. Courts grant these special arrangements. If for some reason,
the parties cannot form a mutual agreement, the collaborative arrangement
dissolves, and each party takes their case to court.
Contested Divorce litigation attorney
Attorney Gordon Stillings has more than twenty years of courtroom experience litigating divorce matters involving the most complex marital property, child custody matters and maintenance issues. Additionally, Gordon's keen financial and business background provide him with the skills and knowledge to assess the most complex of business valuations, stocks, bonds, and deferred compensation plans such as the Wisconsin Retirement System accounts.
Attorney Stillings takes great pride in continuing a tradition of commitment
to families and building upon that tradition with excellence in the practice
of family law. He is committed to helping people overcome the legal and
emotional hardships of their current marital situations. He and his professional
staff are devoted to providing superior legal services to their clients
and operate their office based on these principles. When you are sure, when you are ready to take that step, Gordon will be there to help you.
Education
Attorney Gordon E. Stillings earned a Bachelor of
Arts degree and a law degree at Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
